British born Nigerian artist Yinka Shonibare MBE deals with cultural identity and class issues through video, photography, and sculptural installations. His life-sized headless mannequins are often clothed in colorful and intricately patterned dutch wax print fabrics.

Mr. Shonibare, Member of the Order of the British Empire
Get to the Brooklyn Museum before September 20th to view his mid-career survey exhibition, and to the Newark Museum in New Jersey for a full scale dinner party installation called, “Party Time: Re-imagine America” (through January 3rd, 2010). I can’t wait to see this installation- it promises gluttony, vulgarity and a peacock.
