Vic Chesnutt was only 45 when he died
I am still in shock to report the singer/songwriter Vic Chestnutt died Dec 25th 2009 after a week-long coma brought on by an overdose of muscle relaxers. I was truly saddened to hear this news. Vic was/is one of my all time favorite musicians and a constant comfort and inspiration to me as an artist. I will never forget how a cassette tape with Vic’s The Salesman and Bernadette on one side and West of Rome on the other helped pull me through a particularly tough bout of artist’s block my senior year at SAIC. Vic Chestnutt had a way of putting his heart and soul into his music. His lyrics were playful and funny but also wise and painfully candid. He was truly unique and will be missed.
Here is a video of Vic and his band performing Everything I say

Lady Gaga in Viktor&Rolf Spring 2010
Oh US Weekly, putting Lady Gaga on the top of the worst dressed of 2009 list would actually bother me if you weren’t such a dumb piece of poison trash magazine filled with a bunch of made-up articles and pics of celebrities cellulite. But alas, I know you are secretly written by a group of bitchy, ignorant and insecure mean girl 6th graders with nothing better to do then make everyone feel bad about themselves.
Being that it is the holiday season I will go easy on you US Weekly, and simply point out that Lady Gaga is an entertainer with vision beyond looking like a stripper all day long. She’s artistic and imaginative and brave, and deserves a lot of credit for bringing some crazy back into award show performances and music videos. It’s been a long time since Ziggy Stardust and the music industry needed some spice.

Poked Wool Iphone
Artist Patience Tomlinson works with poked wool to create everything from little animals to electronics. She starts with a ball of wool and pokes it with a needle to create her sculptures. I love them. Here is one of my favorites-a WOOL IPHONE!
