Vic Chesnutt was only 45 when he died
I am still in shock to report the singer/songwriter Vic Chestnutt died Dec 25th 2009 after a week-long coma brought on by an overdose of muscle relaxers. I was truly saddened to hear this news. Vic was/is one of my all time favorite musicians and a constant comfort and inspiration to me as an artist. I will never forget how a cassette tape with Vic’s The Salesman and Bernadette on one side and West of Rome on the other helped pull me through a particularly tough bout of artist’s block my senior year at SAIC. Vic Chestnutt had a way of putting his heart and soul into his music. His lyrics were playful and funny but also wise and painfully candid. He was truly unique and will be missed.
Here is a video of Vic and his band performing Everything I say
