Timothy Horn, Hexen Haus

"Hexen Haus" 2004. Gingerbread, and bread.

Australian born sculpture artist Timothy Horn is the coolest. In 2004 he built a 6f by 5ft by 5 ft sculpture called Hexen Haus. It was built in upstate NY and made of gingerbread and bread! Who doesn’t love bread? But it gets better. Last summer he had an exhibit at the San Fransisco De Young Museum entitled Bitter Suite, inspired by Alma Spreckels .

Timothy Horn created these incredibly intricate crystallized sugar sculptures for Bitter Suite.  After seeing the pictures, I’m pretty sure Timothy Horn is not so much a sculpture artist as some sort of Australian wizard genius king who can take rock-candy from juvenile to classy as hell.

Paula Poundstone Will Not be performing

How about some stand-up? One of my favorite comedians, Sean Gardner, will be performing tonight in A Night of No Bullshit at The Parkside Lounge. 317 E Houston st NY.

Show starts at 7pm. Mr. Gardner, once called “the champagne of comedy” or was it the “champion”? Both are true, is one half of the comedy duo 30×30, and a member of New York’s Improv Olympic.

Tangled Alphabets (April 5th-June 15th at Museum of Modern Art in NY features paintings, drawings and sculpture by artists Leon Ferrari (b. 1920 Argentine) and Mira Schendel (b. 1919 Brazil). I went to MOMA last week to see the Martin Kippenberger exhibit, but was much more impressed with Tangled Alphabets. These Artists use letters and language in a beautiful way. I highly reccommend this show.
